For the first time India is hosting the XV International Congress of Padiatrics in New Delhi. The Congress is being held at the invitation of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics under the aegis of the International Pediatric Association (IPA).
The International Pediatric Association is a central organisation of Pediatric societies and associations representing 85 countries in the world. Its main objective is t promote cooperation among pediatricians of all countries and to encourage research in all fields relating to the care and health of children everywhere.
Once every three years, IPA hold meetings in diferent parts of the world. In recent years, IPA held several seminars mostly in developing countries where the needs of children are most urgent.
The Indian Academy of Pedriatics established in 1964 is the association of child health specialities i India. It has 2,000 members committed to the study and practice of pediatrics and improvement of child health.
The Indian Posts and telegraphs Department feels privileged to bring out a postage stamp to mark this important occasion. |
